Heerlijk verblijf
Het is echt een heel mooi gerenoveerde machiya. De locatie is super, wel in Gion maar in een rustige steeg. En alles in het huisje was schoon en werkte prima.
We ontvingen in eerste instantie alleen automatisch gegenereerde teksten via de booking app, dus geen persoonlijk contact. Ook contact leggen via de whatsapp optie die de beheerder geeft werkte niet. Toen eenmaal contact was opgepakt via de booking chat reageerde de beheerder snel en adequaat.

A Japanese Experience.
We absolutely loved our stay in this traditional two-story Kyoto townhouse. It was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in the Gion area, making it feel peaceful while still being within easy walking distance of temples, restaurants, and everything we wanted to see. The home itself had a wonderful traditional Japanese atmosphere that made our stay feel much more authentic than a standard hotel. One of my favorite features was the small bamboo garden with its fountain. Unfortunately, the fountain wasn’t operating during our visit, but it was still a beautiful little courtyard that added to the charm of the house. For me personally, the location couldn’t have been better. It was incredibly convenient for attending an ozashiki with a geiko and maiko, which was THE highlight of our entire trip to Japan. Overall, this was a wonderful place to experience Kyoto, and I’d happily stay here again.
The only downside is something future travelers should know: because there isn’t onsite staff, you can’t arrange luggage forwarding directly from the property. If you’re planning to use Japan’s excellent luggage delivery service, you’ll need to make other arrangements. There are Yamoto and Sagawa offices nearby though.
