Don’t stay here if you want to be warm and fed.
It appeared to be an old style hotel on approaching it but looked a bit jaded when we got inside.
The hotel was being run on a skeleton staff. The receptionist was very friendly Michelle and welcoming. Unfortunately there was no lift to room no meals being served and breakfast which was included was a joke. It was sign yourself in set your own table and help yourself to cereal and choice of white or brown bread. No staff!! The bedroom was clean but had no heat or duvet on the bed very cold🥶. We later found an electric heater hidden in the wardrobe plus an extra blanket. My husband came home with a bad cold 😰

Beutiful old hotel with lovely staff and good food.
Our room was very large, had beautiful stained glass windows, heritage details in the bathroom, a nice couch, and was tastefully decorated. The room had tea and coffee and a kettle, and staff were happy to bring up non-dairy milk for us after a friendly phone call. Everything you need was there: hairdryer, an extra blanket, ironing board, luggage stand, and hanging space in the cupboard. The hotel is very close to Katoomba shops, and it's good to be walking down the hill at the end of a long day browsing the many interesting shops, galleries, cafes, bars, and antique stores nearby. It's also very close to the RSL club and bus stops. Parking on site was easy to access as well. The continental breakfast had a variety of non-dairy milks available, GF bread with seperate toaster, and GF Weet-Bix. I also had pancakes one morning, and these were light, fluffy, and not sickly sweet. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There is the option for an express checkout and guest keys open the main door after hours, which gave a sense of security. There is a lovely lounge area and cafe area next to the lobby. I used this for an early morning Zoom call (with headphones), and it was very comfortable. This hotel has so much potential to be better known like the hotels at the top of the hill. The grand ballroom is stunning. (I poked my head in after breakfast one day when the door was open).
Honestly, these are minor details, but I like to give honest reviews. The king-sized bed was two singles with another mattress on top, and occasionally I could feel this. Overall, I still slept well. If you don't have much padding on your bones, you might find it uncomfortable. Pillows were very soft, but I prefer firmer ones due to health issues. I now take my own when driving to destinations because I know this workaround makes it a comfortable stay. Our room was upstairs, and there is no lift. The breakfast restaurant is downstairs from the lobby, and these stairs are bit steeper. This might be accessible from the car park, but it would be impractical. Some areas of the hotel are showing their age and need repairs. Staff are willing to take action if this bothers guests, but the damage to the stained glass from a bird strike in our room wasn't a big issue for us. This response was a plus for me, despite the occasional draft. If it was winter, I would have requested another room.
