    The cottage has potential, but needs a serious update to justify the cost of stay.

    The beds were comfortable. The property is spacious and with some cleaning, love, care and attention has genuine potential.

    We paid £800 plus for the weekend but only stayed one of the three nights we booked. Rose Cottage felt old, dark and dingy, an effect exacerbated by the bad weather and the dark salmon-coloured walls in the living room. The furniture was a mish-mash of styles and the fixtures and fittings had definitely seen better days. The bedrooms were particularly tired, with dated colour schemes and mismatched pine furniture that looked like they had been collected over several decades rather than chosen. The living room was cluttered with an eclectic mix of old board games, a mix of dark oak furniture and assorted bric-a-brac, giving the whole place an unkempt feel.

    Excellent

    Clean. Well equipped. Secure garden. Comfy beds. Hot tub which has a roof over it.

    Nothing really but a hair dryer would be handy and booking.com didn’t know bar/restaurant has been knocked down and no idea if being rebuilt.
