We loved it. Rooms were spacious and comfy, wonderful location, excellent breakfast, nice tea and cakes in the afternoon, excellent hosts. Also enjoyed the ducks.
Well, bit of a walk to a restaurant for dinner. Not really a downside, you just need to plan for that.

What a fantastic place to stay! Jane and Keith were wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room had a beautiful view over the delightful garden, where the chickens and ducks roam freely. The room was comfortable, cosy and homely, with everything we needed. Each day, we would find fresh homemade cakes waiting for us in our room — such a lovely touch! There are small bottles of long-life milk provided, but you can also ask for a jug of fresh milk, which we really appreciated. Breakfast at Swallows Rest is amazing. There is plenty of choice, all made using fresh, local produce and, of course, eggs from their own chickens and ducks. Most importantly, we had the best night's sleep ever in the extremely comfortable and supportive bed. After a busy day, it was wonderful to come back to such a peaceful and relaxing place. If you like minimalist Travelodge-style rooms with noisy car parks, then this probably isn't the place for you — because Swallows Rest is the complete opposite! It is colourful, cosy, peaceful and full of character, with the occasional quack from a duck at night and a cockerel crowing during the day. The beautiful garden is a wonderful place to sit and relax, with plenty of seating and some very friendly animals to meet. There is also a large, comfortable sitting room that guests are welcome to use. This really is the perfect place to stay if you want to switch off, relax and forget about the rest of the world for a while. We absolutely loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Swallows Rest. We will definitely be back!

The best breakfast I've ever experienced. Very comfortable quality bed. Accomodating and friendly hosts. Exquisite character and attention to detail. Beautiful garden with ducks, chickens, geese, goats and best of all, miniature donkeys. Absolutely loved this place and would definitely return.
