  A Pleasant Stay in a Nice Location

  My wife & I enjoyed a two-night B&B stay at The Gordon Hotel and had a very pleasant experience overall. The hotel is in a quiet location, with free, unrestricted street parking available, as well as a grassed area directly in front of the hotel where guests can park. We received a very friendly welcome from the owner, who offered us tea or coffee on arrival and took our breakfast order at the same time. It was a little surprising to have to decide what we wanted for breakfast so soon after arriving, although it was also a nice personal touch. Having everything pre-ordered helped to minimise waste and meant breakfast was organised in advance. Our room was light, airy and clean, with a comfortable bed and nice linen. Breakfast was good and exactly as we had pre-ordered. The location was excellent for exploring the area. The hotel is right next to Peasholm Park, around a 15-minute walk to North Bay, approximately 10 minutes to the Open Air Theatre and around 25 minutes to South Bay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the friendly welcome, peaceful location and good breakfast. We would happily recommend The Gordon Hotel and would book again. One point worth noting for prospective guests: the main photograph currently shown on Tripadvisor does not appear to be a view that you would actually get from the hotel. We feel this is worth mentioning so that guests have an accurate expectation when looking at the listing.

  There were a couple of small areas that could perhaps do with some attention. Some of the furniture in our room was looking a little tired, the door catch was a little wobbly and needed attention. We had to use a small spoon to move it back into place so we could exit the room. We mentioned this to the owner when we left, and he explained that previous guests had lost the key and forced the lock, and said he would arrange for it to be repaired. The bathroom toiletries were also a little disappointing. The soap provided seemed unusually watery rather than the more gel-like consistency we would normally expect, and there was no shower gel. This may simply have been overlooked, and as we didn’t raise it with the owner during our stay, we chose to purchase some ourselves. At around £100 per night, we did feel it was a little on the pricey side. However, we later realised that there was a Tom Jones concert taking place nearby on one of the nights of our stay, which may have contributed to the higher price.

  Good location, good food, good rooms.

  Good location, good food and room very comfortable and well looked after. Staff very helpful and friendly. Enjoy our stay being able to relax in comfortable surroundings.

  Small electric shower and cubicle , but you can't have everything. This would not stop us from returning, everything else very good indeed.

  The hosts were very friendly. We were offered a hot drink on arrival. Unheard of! Excellent breakfast. Very quiet. Walk through the park to the beach.

  The room chosen said garden view. Bit surprised to see the roof of the extension, but ok.
