Great location and view let down by poor maintenance and customer service

Location is great, grounds are well maintained and food in restaurant was very delicious and plentiful.

On arrival, our initial accommodation was grubby with stains, crayon and even a shoe imprint on the wall. The bed linen and towels were off white and worn due to repeated laundering and use. We were moved to a new room next day and, whilst an improvement, still issues with bed linen ( stain ) and towels ( worn ) remained. Both rooms appear not to have been maintained so that the wear and tear of regular use is very apparent and detracted from our enjoyment. Check in procedure was not very detailed to the extent that we needed to request the wi-fi code and the process for selecting our evening meal was not explained resulting in confusion and a one hour wait on two evenings for our meal to arrive. Customer service felt casual and reactive throughout our stay. On raising my concerns, the management responded and acknowledged the need for improved cleanliness and maintenance, check in procedures and customer service. I notice that some of the issues I raised appear to have been previously raised by other guests in their reviews also so that the onus is on Winternote management to act upon their good intentions.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very spacious and very clean. Very comfortable bed. Nice view from the balcony. Really nice food in the restaurant, room service and really nice swimming pool.
