R 750 deposit for damage property.

    Location

2 days before checking in I received a whatsapp from a guy named Mohammed asking me to pay him R 750 deposit for any damage to the property of which he said it was refundable. I told him I wasn't aware of such but I can pay at the reception as soon as I arrive. When I arrived at the hotel I was given the key no one said anything about the R 750. After checking out I received a call from the same guy asking me for the key for the room while I had already checked out and left the keys at the reception 😳 Is this hotel a scam and why am I being telephonically harassed?
