A pleasant stay in rooms above a pub with a good breakfast
The Golden Eagle is a pub in the heart of Chester. The rooms are small but confortabla, and everything was very clean. Car parking was provided with no extra charge. This was good value for money - cheaper than most hotels - and the staff were very friendly.

Location was fantastic Lovely breakfast and coffee Staff were nice too Style and decor of the rooms was lovely, just needs a bit more light generally!
Main pub area was very dark due to the decor and lack of natural light, so we found ourselves going out to find somewhere else to spend our evenings Bedroom had a kettle (with a bit of gunk in it...) but the only the running water was from our bathroom, so we had to use our bottled water for tea or coffee in our room. Shower was very weak and shower room very cramped. We understand it's an old building which is part of the charm, but there were loose and creaky floorboards in our room and the lighting again was just not sufficient. The photos look great but sadly slightly underwhelming in person.

One of the loveliest hotels I’ve stayed at in the UK. Every little detail had been thoughtfully considered, and the interior design was beautiful and really unique. The breakfast was excellent too. I would definitely recommend staying here!
